What is it about?
A road-approved e-scooter in Germany needs its own liability insurance and insurance sticker. Additional theft cover depends on the chosen tariff.

Who may ride an e-scooter and what rules apply?
German eKFV vehicles have a minimum rider age of 14. No driving licence is required. The scooter needs operating approval and mandatory equipment; typical approved scooters have a maximum speed of 20 km/h. Alcohol rules also apply. Carrying another person or towing a trailer is prohibited for these vehicles.
Where may e-scooters be ridden?
Use cycling facilities permitted under eKFV. Where these are absent, the carriageway may be used subject to the legal rules. Pavements and pedestrian zones are generally excluded unless a valid permission applies. Observe signs and local rules; pedestrians have particular protection on shared facilities.
E-scooter insurance
Public road use requires a separate motor liability policy and a valid insurance sticker. Personal liability is not a substitute. The insurance year begins on 1 March; check annual renewal. Optional comprehensive cover may protect against theft or specified damage. Operating approval and vehicle details must match the policy.
Who is it for?
For owners of road-approved e-scooters. Personal liability cover does not replace vehicle insurance.
