What is it about?
Supplementary dental insurance can contribute to eligible dental costs in addition to statutory health insurance. Reimbursement limits and conditions vary.

Why consider dental insurance and where can you compare?
Higher-specification dental replacements and some treatments can leave a substantial personal bill. Supplementary insurance pays agreed costs but requires a review of your dental status. We compare conditions and quotes around your preferences. Previously recommended treatments are often excluded and should be explicitly checked before applying.
What does the statutory fund pay at the dentist?
Statutory insurance covers defined standard dental care. Replacement teeth receive a diagnosis-based fixed subsidy: generally 60% of standard provision, rising to 70% after five and 75% after ten years of documented check-ups. These percentages do not apply to every chosen treatment bill. Hardship rules may increase support.
Five dental plans compared – examples for 2026
The table presents five documented examples, rather than a ranking or a complete market survey. Percentages concern eligible costs including statutory fund payments. Initial benefit caps, exclusions and eligibility rules still apply. Suitability depends on your teeth, desired treatment standard and sustainable premium budget.

How much does dental supplementary insurance cost?
Age, dental status and benefits influence premiums. Missing teeth, waiting periods and medical information can affect acceptance. Age-band plans and plans with ageing reserves use different pricing models. Compare later premiums, reimbursement limits and desired cover alongside the initial quotation.
Using the WaizmannTabelle as a comparison aid
The WaizmannTabelle is an external dental plan comparison service. It helps organise reimbursement levels and initial benefit limits. Open the linked comparison and check its methodology and update date. A comparison score does not replace policy wording, assessment of planned treatment or your individual eligibility.
Comparing dental plans: what matters?
Assess replacements, implants, inlays, dental treatment and professional cleaning separately. For children, orthodontics deserves its own comparison. Check fee limits, missing teeth, initial benefit caps and recommended procedures. Before expensive replacement work, obtain a treatment and cost plan and a written reimbursement assessment.
